Restored Lawn-Boy 8157 Supreme self propel lawn mower. Serial number F068B0098. This mower features Lawnboy's legendary F series OMC 2 stroke engine. It also features a light weight four square cast aluminum deck and rear bagger with single speed disc drive self propel system and blade brake clutch system. Requires a 32:1 gas/oil mix. This model is commonly referred to as "The School Bus" because of it's unusually long handle.
This machine has been fully restored. It has been completely cleaned and degreased. The mower housing has been replaced with a NOS deck. Both handle sections have been powder coated in satin black. The muffler and recoil housing have been refinished. The engine has been completely disassembled, vapor honed, and rebuilt with a new piston and seals. The carburetor has been disassembled and cleaned, and the rear bag has been laundered. Additional new parts include four new wheels, a new gas tank, a new drive cover, a new BBC cable, a new self propel cable, a new rear discharge door, a new blade, and new decals. It starts easily and runs great. The BBC operates as it should, and the self propel system is operational. The left rear edge of the bag is rubbed through but still functional.
The 8157 is Lawn-Boy's first rear bagger with a blade brake clutch (BBC) system and is an interesting chapter in Lawn-Boy history. These machines were innovative and unique in their day. The self propel system is engaged by pushing the handle forward much like today's Personal Pace system found on modern Toro mowers. The rear bagging system was also unique at the time.
